The Peace Crusade (Description in Comment Section)

1 comment:

  1. Frederick II of France wanted to help Christians gain access to Jerusalem. He decides to not do any fighting before departing for the Holy Land. When he arrives, he negotiates with the Muslims on policies for Jerusalem. The Christians win some freedoms like being able to visit Jerusalem as they desire. This does not last, because the Muslims take over the city again 15 years later. The Muslims clearly were skeptical of the Christians coming into Jerusalem because they had invaded multiple times before. The Muslims accepted the peace offering and figured that they would allow Christians into Jerusalem, being the Holy Land for Christianity. After a while, the Muslims were fed up with the Christians and decided to take full control of Jerusalem and block Christian access because it is in Muslim territory.
