The Fifth Crusade consisted of Christians' attempts to overthrow the state, Ayyubid, in Egypt. This state contained Jerusalem, so the Christians thought that it was vital that they conquered Ayyubid. The knights fighting in the Crusade were wearing their immensely heavy (and hot) body armor in the Egyptian desert. They were basically cooking themselves before they even arrived to fight the Muslims. The Muslims obliterated their invaders. Few knights were able to get back home through battle and heat tell the tale of the terrible attempt at capturing Egypt. The Muslims were not worried in the least bit about the Fifth Crusade. They knew that the Christian knights were coming to attack, so they were prepared. The Muslims also knew that the Crusaders would die from heat and be utterly defenseless in their invasion. The Muslims were satisfied after their win because they defended their land. It also gave them a boost of confidence for future battles.
